Stone Temple savants set to stun State of Search
No one is outright saying that Eric Enge and Mark Traphagen started doing their Here’s Why marketing videos so they could dress up as Star Trek officers or intrepid jungle explorers, but no one is denying it, either.
If you haven’t caught one of these video gems from Stone Temple Consulting, well, you’re in for a treat. Part low-budget silliness, part incisive marketing knowledge, and all useful, the Here’s Why series is well regarded in digital circles for good reason.
And you’ll get to see one live at State of Search.
Yep. That’s right, y’all. Eric and Mark will let the audience vote on which subject they’ll cover, and create a new Here’s Why video experience on the spot – complete with costumes. Fingers crossed for light sabers!
Topic voting will happen via the State of Search App, so y’all had better get hooked up now if you’re still laggin’.
Here’s Why history
Here’s Why grew out of Eric’s Digital Marketing Excellence Show, which in turn started with hangouts-on-air. With just a camera and whiteboard, he and Eric began to delve into the forgotten part of the digital equation. “There are lots of resources about what to do and how to do it,” Eric says. “We cover the why.”
The value of short-form video is obvious, but the wrapping matters, too. The skits and costumes came about in response to Facebook. It takes visual interest to capture eyeballs, after all, in the attention economy.
As for the silliness, that’s the spoonful of sugar that helps the medicine go down. Serious stuff doesn’t have to be boring, and educating marketers in digital minutia shouldn’t suck. As Mark points out, “Business people are people too.” And people deserve something more than the dry facts.
But wait! There’s more…
Though there will be facts aplenty, both in the live Here’s Why event and the solo presentations Mark and Eric will offer. Mark will be talking content and quality, while Eric will be revealing the results of the Stone Temple study on AMP, so both creatives and data nerds will have plenty to chew on.
Stone Temple is also stepping up to the sponsorship plate. “State of Search is really important to us,” Mark explains, so they’re to be thanked for both communication and the now-legendary State of Search Halftime Party.
So even if there are no light sabers, we’re still happy they’re around.
